Getting the homestead protection process started is easy, yet it is often regarded as a most difficult task. You may ask "What is the best plan for me? Which attorney(s) should I use, or should I use an attorney? How much will it cost me? How long will it take?"

It is very hard to get all of these questions answered in a fast and efficient manner. There is so much information and misinformation available on the internet that it is very hard to know how to begin. Often, just reaching a live person or an attorney on the phone can take days--missed calls, phone tag, receptionists, consultation fees--and your case fails due to missed deadlines. Getting the information you need is a time consuming and inefficient process, and although the attorney may be an effective estate planner or real estate expert, he may not specialize specifically in homestead related issues and may even provide misinformation or non-current information on the subject matter.

Step 1 - Send us an
e-mail or fill out the form below. Give us the basic facts about your family situation; type of business (if run from your home); a general description of your home and equity amount (if known) and what you would like to accomplish. If you have specific liability concerns, let us know. Also, tell us anything else that you think would be helpful. The more details you provide, the more helpful it will be. Step 2 - We will review the information you have sent and reply with a general description of the process that we would recommend for you regarding your specific situation. We will also tell you the complete and total amount of fees and costs associated with your personalized plan. It should take somewhere between a few hours and a day to get back to you. We will respond to every communication or e-mail promptly. If we can't help you, we will let you know, and the reason(s) why. We may also recommend a specialized law firm to help you at that point if you request us to do so or if we feel it is appropriate.

Step 3 - After you have received our reply, you can either e-mail or telephone to schedule a detailed discussion. We can meet you in person if that is appropriate or if the traveling distance is not too great. Once we know the basics, we can have a useful conversation with you and offer specific recommendations should they be required. 

Step 4 - After we have developed a plan, you will be sent a Limited Power of Attorney and Company-Client Agreement specifying exactly what we will do and the total and complete costs involved. There are never any hidden costs or fees. If you approve, we can begin the work immediately. In most cases the planning and paperwork takes approximately 1 day and maximum 1 week from start to finish. Then another 1 to 5 weeks for its completion. Step 5 - Once the work begins, and until it is finished, we will be in constant communication by whatever method you prefer. We will speak to you, your CPA or local attorney so that he or she knows exactly what we have done if required. As a valued client of ours, you are free to call anytime with questions or concerns, and our knowledgeable staff will let you know if there are any new developments or matters that deserve your attention.
